Introducing Loran Carter as O-A’s next Superintendent!
Last night at a Special Board Meeting, the Board of Education voted unanimously to appoint Loran Carter as the next Superintendent of the Oakfield-Alabama Central School District. Mrs. Carter will officially begin her duties as Superintendent on July 6, 2026.
Mrs. Carter is an experienced educator with a wide range of experiences that will be of benefit as she begins her tenure as Superintendent. She began her career as a classroom teacher and has held a multitude of leadership positions that span the K-12 spectrum and prepared her for this new role. These positions have included PK-12 Director of Curriculum, Instruction & Staff Development, District Mathematics Coordinator, Universal Pre-K Director, Clinical Coach and Adjunct Professor, and currently the acting Elementary Principal at Eden Central School District. Loran takes pride in her advocacy for all students, and cares deeply about the social, emotional, behavioral, and academic needs of all students. A foundation of her leadership is creating and promoting strong relationships with all stakeholders for the benefit of her students and the greater school community. Prior to her professional career, Mrs. Carter received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Philosophy/Pre-Law from St. Bonaventure University, her Masters in Curriculum Leadership from SUNY Fredonia, and she completed the SUNY Oswego Superintendent Development Program. Loran is eager to step into her new position and begin building relationships with the OACSD staff, students, and community. “I am deeply honored and humbled to be selected as the next Superintendent of the Oakfield-Alabama Central School District. I am excited to begin this journey with the district and extend my sincere gratitude to the Oakfield-Alabama Board of Education for its professional and thoughtful approach throughout this transition process.”
Board President Justin Staebell said “This process has been thorough and extensive, and the Board has worked diligently to identify the best candidate from a competitive field of candidates, and Mrs. Carter emerged as that person.” The Board would like to thank all of the stakeholders who participated in our search process, as their feedback was essential in our decision making. The Board would like to congratulate Mrs. Carter on her success and we look forward to shaping the future of Oakfield-Alabama CSD together as a team! Loran will be working closely with Interim Superintendent, Mr. Banzer, over the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition.
