Title Grants/ESSA

What are Title Grant Funds?
Title grant funds are federal monies that are meant to supplement, not replace, existing state funding for education. Title funds were established by the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965 and amended in the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) of 2015. These funds are released yearly from the federal government; State Educational Agencies (SEAs) and Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) then allocate a percentage to individual schools and districts.

Historically, OA qualifies for the following Title Grant Funds:

Title I, Part A
Improving Basic Programs Operated by LEA's Fact Sheet
Title II Part A
Supporting Effective Instruction Fact Sheet
Title III Part A
Improving ELL Proficiency and Academic Achievement Fact Sheet
Title IV Part A
Student Support and Academic Enrichment Fact Sheet

Each year a stakeholder committee group, consisting of adults and students from both our school and community, is asked to participate in determining how OA's title grant funds will be allocated for the following year.  *The membership categories to be included in this stakeholder group are pre-determined by the federal government.

Each year the district must submit an accountability report to the government specifically describing how the previous years title grant funds were spent, including the reporting of student achievement measures as linked to the funded activities/expenditures.
